About Us

About Guelph Cabinet Painting

A Cabinet Painting Company For Guelph And Wellington County

Guelph Cabinet Painting paints, sprays and refinishes kitchen cabinets, islands, vanities and built-ins across Guelph, Rockwood, Fergus, Elora, Aberfoyle and Puslinch. We carry full insurance on every job. Our only trade is cabinet painting, so a visit centres on your kitchen and its doors rather than on painting in general.

The houses dictate the work. A hand-built kitchen in a Ward limestone house, golden oak in Kortright Hills, a melamine galley on Gordon Street and factory-white shaker in Westminster Woods each call for its own primer, its own amount of prep and now and then a different answer altogether. Telling them apart before writing the quote is most of the work.

About Guelph Cabinet Painting

The Finish Is Decided On The First Day, Not The Last

A cabinet painting job that fails nearly always failed on the first day. Grease under the primer, a primer wrong for the material, one thick brushed coat, or a kitchen thrown back into hard use before the enamel cured account for almost every peeling door we get asked about. So the first day goes to degreasing and labelling, and no paint leaves the van.

From there the routine holds in every kitchen: sanding to a dull surface, shellac primer over oak and cherry, bonding primer over melamine, laminate and thermofoil, standard primer over maple and painted MDF, then two or three light sprayed coats of waterborne alkyd enamel or 2K polyurethane, each sanded before the next. Doors get sprayed at the booth; boxes get sprayed inside the kitchen under sealed poly. None of that is a badge. It is the habit that decides whether the cutlery drawer still looks new in ten years, and the service pages describe how it applies to each kind of job.

Every Cabinet Painting Quote Names The Doors, The Prep And The Products

A quote reading "paint the kitchen" beside a single figure compares with nothing. Ours itemizes the doors and drawers, the material, the degreasing and sanding, any grain fill or peel removal, the primer and topcoat by name, the coat count, hardware work and the price, with the island, the vanity or the built-ins each on their own line. Bring us another quote and we will price the identical scope so both can be read together, and if ours comes out higher you will see exactly where.

Market ranges appear on the kitchen cabinet painting page, and they are market ranges rather than our prices. The written quote is what applies, and it holds once the job starts.

What We Say Even When It Costs Us The Job

We will tell you when thermofoil is peeling and paint will not save it, so the door gets stripped or swapped. We will tell you when a walnut kitchen deserves refinishing over paint, and send you to the cabinet refinishing page. We will tell you when a swollen sink base rules out both paint and refacing. We will tell you that old paint in a century home may hold lead and gets tested before any sanding, as the century home page explains, and we will never call a kitchen lead-safe on a guess. A cabinet painting company willing to paint anything it is handed is not the one to let loose on your kitchen.

Cabinet Painting Across Guelph And The Towns Around It

Our work covers the entire city, from the century streets downtown and in St. George's Park and Exhibition Park, through the post-war bungalows of Waverley and Onward Willow, to the 1990s and 2000s subdivisions of Kortright Hills, Pineridge and Clairfields and the newest streets of the South End and Grange Hill East. Outside the city we cover Rockwood, Eden Mills and Ariss, Aberfoyle, Morriston and Arkell, and Fergus and Elora to the north. Two-tone islands, described on the two-tone page, come up most weeks.

What We Do

What We Paint, Refinish And Reface

All thirteen of these services reach every address in Guelph, Rockwood, Fergus, Elora and Puslinch.

Kitchen Cabinet Painting

Doors and fronts are taken off for booth spraying, hard enamel laid over a primer chosen for the material, with the boxes handled on site. Kitchen cabinet painting then puts the lot back in a new colour.

Cabinet Refinishing

Cabinet refinishing keeps the wood visible instead of painting over it. The tired finish comes away by stripping or sanding, the wood gets stained or left natural, and a sprayed clear coat lets the grain read through.

Century Home Kitchen Cabinet Painting

Century home kitchen cabinet painting deals with site-built wood cabinets that carry decades of old paint, uneven doors, worn hinges and plaster dust, and paints them in a colour that suits the age of the house without erasing its character.

Oak Cabinet Painting

Oak cabinet painting starts with shellac primer so the tannins stay put. Filler packs the open grain until the face is flat, and sprayed enamel covers both, leaving a 1980s golden oak kitchen looking newly built.

Cabinet Spray Painting

Cabinet spray painting lays enamel down in thin, even passes from a spray gun rather than a brush, in a booth for the doors and inside a sealed kitchen for the boxes, which is how a finish looks factory-made.

Bathroom Vanity Painting

Bathroom vanity painting needs one day, sometimes two, and gives the vanity the same degreasing, sanding, priming and sprayed enamel a kitchen gets, leaving a finish hard enough for steam, splashes and wet hands every morning.

Condo Kitchen Cabinet Painting

Condo kitchen cabinet painting handles a galley kitchen, a building that sets rules on hours and elevators, and the melamine or thermofoil doors most condos carry, with the doors shipped out to the booth and the unit kept livable.

Cabinet Colour Consultation

Cabinet colour consultation locks in colour and sheen before any paint goes on, by spraying a real door from the kitchen in the real product and judging it under the kitchen's light, matched against the decks the showrooms use.
